Sagehens Fall At Cal Lutheran In Series Opener

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Ramsey Abushahla drove in six runs to lead the Cal Lutheran Baseball team to a 13-2 win over Pomona-Pitzer in the first of a three-game series on Friday afternoon.

With the result, both teams now have identical records on the season at 19-8 overall and 11-5 in the SCIAC, heading into their twinbill at Alumni Field tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Abushahla had a two-run double to open the scoring in the first inning and came around to score to make it 3-0. He added a bases-loaded double in a four-run fifth which broke the game open, putting the Kingsmen ahead 11-0.

Junior outfielder Kevin Brice (pictured) had a two-run double in the sixth to account for both of Pomona-Pitzer's runs. The Sagehens were held to four hits, but senior shortstop Sam Fox did have one of them to increase his hitting streak to 17 games.

Tomorrow's doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m. and the Sagehens will likely send senior Jake Bruml to the mound in the opener to try to level the series at a game apiece.
