History
"We are looking forward to hosting this meet again," says Women's Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "We've hosted this meet for a few years now, and our NCAA West Regional meet has been held on this course in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021 - and we will be hosting Regionals again this fall. It's a proven course that is challenging and exciting."
"This is a tough cross country course that has all the elements to challenge a runner," continues Reynolds. "It has grass and dirt trails, and the whole course pretty much goes either uphill or downhill, so on each loop you have to do a bit of work to set up the next loop. The course is also very spectator-friendly; you can see the runners go by numerous times from the central start/finish area at the track. Do you ever watch Formula 1 racing? Yeah, it's like that!"
Maya Weigel (Pomona-Pitzer) holds the women's meet and course record of 20:57.3 set in winning the 2016 Invite. The men's meet record is 24:31.7 by Danny Lyon (CSU San Marcos) in winning the 2012 Invite, while the men's course record is 24:24.7 by Henry Pick (CMS) in winning the 2021 SCIAC Championships.
