RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's cross country placed fourth as a team Saturday at the UC Riverside Invite, scoring 159 points in a field that included 25 teams. The Sagehens finished behind D1 and D2 powerhouses Southern Utah, Pepperdine and Cal Poly Pomona. 

Jefferson Wright led the Sagehens with a 13th place individual finish, racing a 23:58.9. Wright becomes only the fifth Sagehen in history to dip under the 24-minute barrier. Ian Sharp followed in 33rd at 24:21.4, while Ryan Fitzpatrick took 39th with a time of 24:29.6. Owen Irving finished 44th at 24:31.4, and Nate Wehner rounded out the Sagehens' scoring five in 50th, clocking a 24:34.7. Cumulatively, the Sagehens' 2:01:56 team time is the second-fastest on the UCR course in program history, and the fourth-fastest overall among all courses in history.

Peter Neid finished 63rd overall with a time of 24:48.0, while Connor Spellman crossed in 116th at 25:15.3. Cruz Espinoza also competed for Pomona-Pitzer, finishing 135th with a time of 25:26.9. Mason Hawkins completed the team's results in 165th at 25:43.0.

Up Next: The Sagehens will split their squad and compete in two meets on Saturday, October 3. One group will travel to the D3 Pre-Nationals meet at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, and the remainder of the squad will compete at The Master's XC Invite in Santa Clarita.
