Stein, Men's Track and Field Shine at APU

AZUSA, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's track recorded national-level marks at the Franson Last Chance meet at Azusa Pacific University Friday and Saturday.
 
Jack Stein finished 4th in the 10,000m in 29:33.63, a program record and SCIAC record. Stein's time bests the old mark of 29:33.86 set just last year by Cameron Hatler. Stein currently stands 8th on the national descending order list. 
 
JT Bard took 5th in Heat 3 of the 800m in a new personal best, breaking the vaunted 1:50 barrier with a 1:49.82. That mark stands tenth in the nation and stands 4th on the Sagehen Top 10 lists. 
 
Jefferson Wright clocked a personal best 3:43.74 to win Heat 3 of the 1500m race. Wright moved up throughout the race before taking the lead with 300 meters left and held off two strong challenges on the homestretch. Wright now stands second in the nation and moved up to third on the Sagehen Top 10 lists. Peter Neid ran a strong 3:52.94 and teammate Owen Irving ran 3:56.54.
 
Sprinter Ezra Satran won Heat 3 of the Preliminary 100m race in 10.66 Friday to qualify to the 100m Final on Saturday, where he finished third in 10.67. 
 
Junior Tiernan Colby had two stellar races in two days by dipping under a pair of time barriers. On Friday he ran his first sub-15 5000m in 14:54.69, and on Saturday he ran his first sub-4 1500m in 3:58.01
 
Thrower Will Marquart stayed busy, as usual, with a strong personal best of 161'3" in the hammer to take 2nd, and a 54'2.75" in the Shot Put to take 3rd. Marquart currently stands 17th on the national descending order lists in the Shot Put.
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will do a final tune-up at the Redlands Final Qualifier meet this Wednesday and Thursday before heading to the NCAA D3 National Championships May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
