REDLANDS, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's track and field earned a third-place team finish at the SCIAC Championships.
William Marquart,
Jefferson Wright and
Jack Stein each secured individual event wins to lead the Sagehens. Marquart won the shot put with a throw of 54' 2 ½" - the first title for a Sagehen in that event since 1997. He also finished third in the javelin with a heave of 179' 4" and third in the discus with a mark of 144' 2" to score 22 points for the Sagehens.
Dualeh Dualeh took 22nd in the shot put with a 31' 8 ¾" while
John Goodwin finished ninth in the javelin with a throw of 141' 3".
Wright clocked in at 3:51.29 in the 1500m to win the event. He also placed third in the 5000m with a 14:46.83.
Peter Neid came in third in the 1500m, running a 3:52.74, while
Amir Barkan took 11th with a 4:01.05.
Stein won the 5000m with a time of 14:30.72. Following Wright in third place was Neid, who took fifth and ran a 14:58.70.
Owen Irving finished sixth with a 14:59.68. Barkan (15:09.92, 10th),
Connor Spellman (15:11.03, 11th),
Nate Wehner (15:18.37, 13th) and
Ian Sharp (15:23.82, 14th) followed.
Ezra Satran finished runner-up in the 100m, coming in at 10.49, the second-fastest time in program history.
Harrison Brown followed in third with a 10.62 (fourth in program history) while
Matthew Yen took eighth with a 10.83 (=seventh in program history). JT Bard took second in the 800m (1:51.88), while
Alexander Doty took fifth (1:57.29) and
Alejandro Stefan Rojas Pratt took sixth (1:57.86).
Brown earned a runner-up finish in the 200m, clocking a time of 21.53, the number 7 time in program history. In the 3000m steeplechase, Wehner came in second with a 9:20.64. The Sagehens' men's 4x100m relay team placed second with a time of 41.68.
Other notable results included Raffi Charkoudian-Rogers, who finished seventh in the 400H (58.29) and in the 110H with a personal best 15.85.
Nicolas Barbieri finished eighth in the 400m with a 51.02.
As a team, Pomona-Pitzer earned 127 points to finish third, behind first place CMS (196) and second place Redlands (143.5).
