JEKYLL ISLAND, GA — No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer secured a third place finish at the Jekyll Island Collegiate.
The Sagehens put together a solid round to jump two spots into a tie for third. Previous play proved accurate, as the top four teams at this event were the top four ranked teams in DIII. Notably, Pomona-Pitzer jumped #2 Carnegie Mellon on the day, an important head-to-head matchup as they head to championship season.
The Freshmen led the way once again for the Sagehens.
Annabelle Chan and
Lisa Chu, seemingly fueled by the big moments, both finished with 73s on the final day. After struggling day one, Annabelle recovered nicely, notching nine birdies in her last two rounds, including three on the day. Her birdie total for the tournament (11) was second for the event. Her final round was much steadier, with only one blemish, a triple bogey on the tenth hole.
Lisa Chu also had a steady round that included only three bogeys. She took advantage of the par 5s, notching two birdies on the day and finishing with a top 5 par 5 scoring average.
Freshman
Ann Zhao also recovered nicely after a difficult day one. The nation's tenth ranked individual birdied her ultimate hole for a 77. Birdies evaded Junior
Rachel LeMay on the day as she struggled with the putter. She carded an 81 Sunday, good enough for a top-20 finish. Junior
Eunice Yi found a birdie on the 8th, but a few too many big numbers on the card led to an 83.
