JEKYLL ISLAND, GA — No. 25 Pomona-Pitzer men's golf finished in a tie for 12th at the Jekyll Island Collegiate.
The Sagehens finished with a solid final round on Sunday, cementing their spot among the best teams in the nation. The Jekyll Island Collegiate, hosted by Oglethorpe, attracts the strongest field of the spring. The Sagehens impressed, notching key wins against teams ranked ahead of them, including #2 Emory. Their "double avoidance" strategy worked well, with the Hens only notching one double or worse on the day.
Sophomore
Andrew Lim put together one of the best tournaments of his young career, a top 30 finish among a stacked field. Lim finished his third straight round at par or better, vaulting him 52 spots in the national rankings. Lim started with nine straight pars, then fired three birdies on the back nine, including one on the 18th. Senior
John Kim continued his strong Spring Break campaign with a second straight under par round. He had four birdies on the day, also notching one on the 18th.
Freshman
William Zhuang showed no signs of rust in his first tournament coming off of injury. He started off with a bogey, but responded well with two birdies on the front, and followed his teammates with a birdie on the last. Junior
Alexander Oh also continued a great Spring Break campaign, jumping 250 spots in the individual rankings after the week. He started off poorly in the final round, standing at 7-over for the day on the 14th tee. He stayed patient and dug deep, finishing birdie-birdie-par-eagle to move his team into 12th. Freshman
Aidan McGreen rounded out the lineup with a 79.
