ORANGE, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens men's tennis team defeated Chapman 5-2 on Friday afternoon on the road.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 6-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
The Sagehens secured the early advantage by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Drew Goldman and Jay Mallampati earned a 6-2 victory at the top spot, while Sam English and Neil Chulani picked up a 6-4 win at No. 3. In singles play, the Sagehens captured four of the six courts to seal the team victory. Goldman led the way at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win. English battled to a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4, while Tanner Ige added another point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5. Ethan Zou secured another point for Pomona-Pitzer at No. 6 singles, winning 6-4, 6-4. Chapman earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, but the Sagehens' strong performance across the lineup secured the 5-2 result.
