OXNARD, CA — Pomona-Pitzer women's golf emerged victorious at SCIAC 1.
Coming off a victory at the West Coast Classic, the Sagehens added another trophy this Sunday at SCIAC 1. A slew of birdies for the Hens made their lead insurmountable going into the back nine, and a solid finish gave them their third straight team victory.
Junior Eunice Yi notched her first individual win of the year and achieved her second straight SCIAC Athlete of the Week Honors after a stellar performance at SCIAC 1. Her day two started off with three birdies in the first four holes, braving the high winds. She stayed steady the rest of the round, birdieing the long 14th, and stepped onto 18 tee with a one-shot lead. A perfectly judged approach left a five-foot birdie putt, which she promptly drained for a two-shot victory.
Freshman Annabelle Chan also came in with a stellar 71 for a second-place finish. She had three birdies on the day and played incredibly steady, but an unfortunate bogey on the 18th pulled her out of the top individual spot. It's another top three for Chan, who's proved to be a consistent piece of this lineup. Junior Rachel LeMay managed the windy conditions well to a 75, good enough for an individual top ten. The former All-American started off both nines with birdies in her second round of the campaign.
Freshman Lisa Chu and Senior Ottavia Lombardo both came in with 78s. They started off hot, firing off three birdies collectively in the first five holes. They faltered a bit down the stretch but provided important rounds for the team's victory. Freshman Ann Zhao, competing as an individual, fired another solid round of 75, marked by four birdies, for a solid top 5 result.
