Box Score 2 CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens men's tennis team swept the day on Saturday at the Pauley Tennis Complex, opening with a 6-1 win over Riverside City College before closing the day with a 7-0 victory against Lewis & Clark.
Game One – PP 6, RCC 1
The Sagehens set the tone early in the opener by claiming the doubles point. Jay Mallampati and Kiran Vairavanathan secured a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Tanner Ige and Valor Dare battled to a 7-5 victory at No. 3. Riverside City College picked up the lone doubles win at the top position.
In singles play, Pomona-Pitzer won five of six courts to seal the team victory. Leo Rocca earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Ige followed with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 3. Ethan Zou rallied at No. 4 singles after dropping the first set, coming back for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win.
John Wehrle controlled Court 5 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory, and Dare posted a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6. Riverside City College's only point came at No. 1 singles.
Game Two – PP 7, LC 0
The Sagehens claimed the doubles point and never looked back. The Sagehens won at No. 1 doubles and at No. 3 to take the early 1-0 lead. The Sagehens completed the sweep in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Goldman led off with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 1, while Sam English followed with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Luke Feng was dominant at No. 3, posting a 6-1, 6-0 result. Zou added a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4, Neil Chulani earned a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 5, and Wehrle capped the match with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 performance at No. 6.
