Women's XC Wins Pomona-Pitzer Invite

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's cross country won the Pomona-Pitzer XC Invite with four individual runners placing inside the top-10. 
 
Maggie Avey led the way for the Sagehens with a runner-up individual finish, clocking in at 22:07.5. Her time is the ninth fastest Sagehen time in course history since the meet began in 2009. Lili Maycock followed in third with a 22:11.8 and Anna Hirsch took fourth with a 22:16.1. 
 
Finishing ninth, Kendall Madine ran a time of 22:40.7. Megan Walter rounded out Pomona-Pitzer's top-five racers, clocking a 22:46.1 and finishing 11th individually. 
 
As a team, the Sagehens claimed the top spot with 29 points, finishing ahead of Vanguard (45) and CMS (93). The team went through the first split in second place as a team, but took the lead by the 1.91 mile mark and never looked back. 
 
This marks the first time since 2018 that both the women's and men's cross country programs finished first at this home invite.
