CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's cross country earned a perfect team score to win the 17th Annual Pomona-Pitzer XC Invite Saturday.
Irving led the way for the Sagehens with a second-place individual finish at 25:17.4. His time was the 21st fastest Sagehen time in course history since the meet began in 2009.
Tiernan Colby followed in third with a 25:21.7 while
Nate Wehner took fourth at 25:31.3.
Finishing fifth,
Jefferson Wright clocked a time of 25:37.3.
Peter Neid rounded out the team's top-five finishers with a time of 25:52.1. Since the first and sixth-place finishers ran unattached, Pomona-Pitzer earned the lowest possible team score of 15.
The team's perfect score of 15 is the first time any team has completed the feat at this meet, with Cal State San Marcos posting the previous low team score of 18 in 2012. The Sagehens held a perfect score of 15 at the first split and maintained it through the remaining 4.5 miles.
This marks the first time since 2018 that both the women's and men's cross country programs finished first at this home invite.
