HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL — No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer wrapped up the NCAA DIII Fall Preview with a T13th place finish.
A strong back-nine push from Pomona-Pitzer's power hitters was instrumental in achieving a strong team result.
Aidan McGreen and
John Kim notched two birdies apiece in their last seven holes. Birdies were at a premium on the tough El Campeon course, but the Sagehens collected seven on the day.
Andrew Lim internalized Coach Wurzer's encouraging words in his play this week. He made 38 pars, 13 of which came in the final round. The right mix of consistent ball striking, bogey avoidance and great recovery led to a top-30 finish for Lim.
Dallas native
William Zhuang had a back-nine push of his own with a pair of birdies down the stretch. A bogey on 17 stopped his momentum, but he had a respectable finish in the top half of the field. Freshman
Ken Cremers managed 13 pars in his final round 78.
Ranked No. 14 in the most recent Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll, Pomona-Pitzer picked up key wins against LeTourneau, Trinity and Lynchburg - teams ranked 11, 12, and 13, respectively. They also picked up a key head-to-head decider against conference foe Redlands.
