PALM DESERT, CA — Pomona-Pitzer women's golf took fourth at the NCAA Preview.

After four straight years of postseason play, Pomona-Pitzer Women's Golf has become a stalwart at the top of Division III. Their impressive list of accolades over that span includes three SCIAC Champs and a lone runner-up finish in 2023. They have found much success with Coach John Wurzer at the helm, and look to build on this success in the 2025-26 campaign.

This fall season poses a unique challenge for the program, as only four upperclassmen return. It is up to team captains Ottavia Lombardo, Federica Domecq Lacroze and Malia Loo to ensure the team's winning culture stays alive this year.

Past success earned Pomona-Pitzer an invite to the premier fall event: the NCAA Preview at Desert Willow GC. A challenging track and a stacked field can make for a daunting task - especially for first-years with no previous tournament experience, of which there were four in the lineup. However, the newcomers proved they were up to the challenge.

First-year Ann Zhao led the way for the Sagehens, firing an impressive ten birdies over the two-round event. She clearly showed her potential to go low; however, an equivalent number of over-par holes kept her at +1 for the tournament.

First-year Lisa Chu and Junior Eunice Yi were next at +2 for the event. Yi had a steady day one, notching 16 pars en route to a 72. Chu started off with three birdies in the first four holes but lost a couple of strokes down the stretch of the back nine for a 73. Chu was much steadier on day two, with 16 pars, while Eunice was more up and down. Both girls totaled 146 for the tournament, good enough for T16.

First-year Annabelle Chan also notched a top-twenty finish in her first event, with five birdies over the two days. Rounding out the squad was Senior Ottavia Lombardo, with four birdies on the weekend. First-year Riley Wang did not score her first round, and shot a +6 78 on Sunday.
