Men's XC Takes Second at CSU San Marcos Cougar Challenge

SAN MARCOS, Calif. — The Sagehens men's cross-country team placed second in the 2025 CSU San Marcos Cougar Challenge on Saturday morning, its first competition of the season.

The Sagehens totaled 59 points with three runners finishing in the top 15. The team finished second behind meet winner Cal Poly Pomona who totaled 20 points.

Jack Stein led the Sagehens with a third-place individual finish, running a time of 24:20.3. Following Stein was Owen Irving and Jefferson Wright who finished 13th and 14th overall, respectively. Irving raced a time of 25:00.8 and Wright a 25:04.0.

Amir Barkan finished 18th overall, clocking in at 25:13.6. Peter Neid followed in 19th with a 25:14.7 while Nate Wehner took 21st with a time of 25:14.9. Ian Sharp finished in 26th after racing a 25:31.5 and Tiernan Colby took 27th with a time of 25:32.0.

Up Next: The Sagehens will compete next at the UC Riverside Invite on Saturday, September 27th in Riverside, California at 7:30 a.m.
