CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell 4-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to Trinity University at Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Sagehens end the season 14-13 overall.
Pomona-Pitzer started losing the doubles point after dropping two of the three doubles matches as positions 2 and 3.
Jay Mallampati and
Drew Goldman earned a win at No. 1 doubles 6-3 but
Sam English and
Luke Feng fell 6-4 and
Neil Chulani and
Ethan Lee dropped their set 6-1.
Heading into the singles competition,
Drew Goldman doubled his wins on the day with a singles win at No. 1 by the scores of 6-3, 6-2. Despite winning at the No. 1 position, the Sagehens fell with loses at No. 3, 4 and 5.
Sam English fell at No. 3 3-6, 1-6 while
Luke Feng dropped his singles match at No. 5 in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 3-6 and
Andrew Andea fell in the cinch match at N. 3 singles also in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 3-6.
