Box Score SAN ANTONIO — The No. 17 Pomona-Pitzer men's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 29 Trinity University Saturday afternoon on the road.
Season Impact: The loss puts the Sagehens at 14-9 on the season, including 5-2 in SCIAC play.
Pomona-Pitzer opened the match with a hard fought loss in doubles, as
Drew Goldman and
Jay Mallampati won at top spot to tie the doubles point at 1-1.
Luke Feng and
Sam English fell 6-3 at No. 2 as the Tigers secured the doubles point.
Trinity took a 2-0 lead after English fell at line five, 6-0, 6-2. But Goldman put the Sagehens on the board with a convincing 6-0, 6-3 win at top spot. The teams traded points at lines six and two, with
Neil Chulani falling 6-3, 6-1 before
Ethan Lee posted a 6-3, 6-4 win.
The Tigers, though, went on to seal the victory with a pair of three set wins at lines four and three.
Luke Feng fell 6-4, 3-6, 1-6 at four before
Andrew Andea dropped a hard fought 2-6, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7) battle at line four.
