Sagehens Take Second, Kirkpatrick Sets Program Record in 200m at SCIAC 1

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Kat Kirkpatrick broke a 38 year-old program record in the 200m as the Pomona-Pitzer women's track and field team finished second at the SCIAC 1 quad-meet Saturday Afternoon. 
 
Kirkpatrick ran a time of 24.90 to finish second in the 200m, breaking the previous program record of 24.95 set in 1987 by Kendra Brandrup. Kirkpatrick also anchored the Sagehens' winning 4x100m relay team that tied the program record of 48.11. The squad, built of Olivia Richards, Olivia Reichle, Kensi Binstadt and Kirkpatrick, tied the same quartet's record set last season. 
 
Pomona-Pitzer's 4x400m relay team, made up of Kirkpatrick, Anna Marston, Binstadt and Reichle, finished first with a time of 4:00.47, which is the No. 10 fastest time in program history. Reichle finished second individually in the 400m with a time of 1:00.03, while Marston took third with a 1:00.78. Kirkpatrick finished second in the 100m with a time of 12.27. 
 
In the 5000m race, Katie Cline finished second after clocking a time of 18:08.84, Fiona Bodkin took third with an 18:14.02 and Chloe Connolly placed fourth with an 18:20.28. 
 
Felicia Akinde won the long jump after posting a mark of 5.20m. Ella Bowers came in second with a mark of 5.04m. Bowers won the triple jump, securing a jump of 11.28m. Elsa Van Dyke took third with a 10.63m. Logan Spoonemore placed second in the javelin after throwing 36.22m.
