CLAREMONT, Calif. — Kyle Huang was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year while Tommy Matheis earned SCIAC Newcomer and Diver of the Year nods, the conference announced Tuesday.

Huang picked up two individual event wins at this season's conference championships and a relay title while increasing a two-year career total of All-SCIAC selections to nine. The sophomore repeated as the 400-yard Individual Medley champion and added the 200 Fly gold to the trophy case in addition to a close runner-up finish in the 200 IM and 400 Free Relay championship.

Matheis, who earned an unprecedented five SCIAC Athlete of the Week accolades over the season, won Diver of the Year honors in a pair of top-class battles with Chapman University's Jake Randazzo by virtue of the highest combined total dive score on both boards. The first-year claimed the 3-meter title (524.00) and was a close runner-up in a thrilling end to the 1m competition (481.10).
