Men’s Swim & Dive in Second Through Day One of SCIAC Championships

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's swimming and diving concluded day one of the 2025 SCIAC Championships in second place Wednesday at East Los Angeles College. The Sagehens currently stand in second place with a total of 107 points, behind Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with 183 points and ahead of Chapman at 105. 
 
The Sagehens earned a series of top two finishes on day one of the conference championships, including in the men's 1m diving. Tommy Matheis finished second in the event in a tightly contested finish, earning a total of 481.10 points behind Chapman's Jake Randazzo who earned 487.35. 
 
In the first swimming event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay, Pomona-Pitzer's "A" squad finished second in another close finish, clocking in at 1:28.68. The Sagehens finished just 0.30 seconds behind event winner CMS, with Diego Hodge, Preston Kwon, Adrian Clement and Casey Jacobs composing the team. The Sagehens wrapped up the day with yet another close second-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay, racing a time of 6:38.05. Pomona-Pitzer's relay team, built of Hodge, Clement, Henry Cannon and Kyle Huang, again came in second to CMS who clocked a 6:37.82. 
 
The Sagehens resume action tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 20, in day two of the conference championships.
