Women's Swim and Dive Wins D3 Shootout

CHICAGO — The Pomona-Pitzer women's swim and dive team won the D3 Shootout at the University of Chicago this weekend. 
 
Day One Recap
 
Pomona-Pitzer's 200-yard medley relay team opened the meet with a fourth place finish, racing a time of 1:44.47. Bennett Jones then finished second individually in the 400-yard IM with an NCAA qualifying time of 4:23.95. 
 
Ellie Burkhardt posted the team's first event win of the meet in the 200-yard free, clocking an NCAA qualifying time of 1:49.97. Francesca Coppo then finished second in the 50-yard free with a 22:84, an NCAA B-cut time. Izzy Yoon also took second in the 100-yard back, swimming an NCAA-qualifying 55.91. In the 1-meter diving, Lilly Gillespie finished sixth with a score of 246.53. 
 
The Sagehens' 800-yard free relay team ended the day with a win after racing an NCAA-qualifying time of 7:31.52. 
 
As a team, Pomona-Pitzer ended day one in first place with a total of 309.5 points, just ahead of host University of Chicago (308.5) and Hope College (302). 
 
Day Two Recap
 
Izzy Yoon posted the team's first event win of day two, finishing first in the 200-yard back with an NCAA-qualifying time of 2:01.29. Burkhardt then won the 100-yard free after posting an NCAA-qualifying time of 50.58. Bennett Jones secured a win of her own in the 200-yard IM, clocking an NCAA-qualifying time of 2:04.21. 
 
The Sagehens' 200-yard free relay team ended the meet with a win after clocking an NCAA-qualifying 1:34.03. 
 
In total, Pomona-Pitzer tallied 624.5 team points to win the meet, finishing 10 points ahead of host University of Chicago (614.5).
