CHICAGO — Pomona-Pitzer men's swim and dive secured a second place team finish at the D3 Shootout this weekend.
Day One Recap
Pomona-Pitzer's 200-yard medley relay team opened the meet with a second place finish, racing a 1:30.36.
Kyle Huang then placed third individually in the 400-yard IM after clocking a 4:03.29. In the 200-yard free,
Nathan Xu finished fourth with a 1:40.42.
Adrian Clement then earned silver in the 50-yard free with a time of 20.56.
Xu secured the team's first event win in the 100-yard back, clocking a 49.43 in the finals after racing a 49.26 in the prelims to earn the top seed. Huang earned another third place finish in the 200-yard fly with a finals time of 1:50.64. The Sagehens' 800-yard free relay finished third with a time of 6:50.33.
In the 1-meter diving,
Tommy Matheis posted a third place finish after earning a score of 264.85.
The Sagehens finished day one in second place with 306 total team points, behind first place and host team University of Chicago (343).
Day Two Recap
Tommy Matheis opened the day two diving events with a third place finish in the 3-meter diving, totaling an NCAA B-Cut score of 307.80.
Diego Hodge posted the team's first event win in the 200-yard back, securing an NCAA B-Cut time of 1:48.04. Clement finished second in the 100-yard free with a time of 45.69.
The Sagehens' 200-yard free relay team won its event with a finals time of 1:22.23 to close out the two-day meet.
In total, Pomona-Pitzer tallied 598.5 points to finish second, behind host University of Chicago (679) and ahead of third place WashU (580).
