SPARTANBURG, SC — The Pomona-Pitzer women's cross country team placed 14th at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.

"Both teams went into the meet hoping to place higher than their National rankings, and we did just that," said Emma DeLira, associate head coach of cross country and track & field. "We had an opportunity to line up against some very good teams, and we had an amazing day. For the 6k team, we persevered through a challenging course and tough field to move up into the top half of teams overall at the national meet. Joya and Eva have been our 1-2 punch all season, and to do it again at Nationals is impressive."

The Sagehens totaled 434 points with two runners in the top one hundred. Pomona-Pitzer trailed behind Wisconsin – La Crosse and Carleton, who finished twelfth and thirteenth place with 405 and 408 points, respectively.

Joya Terdiman led Pomona-Pitzer with a 67th place individual finish, running a time of 22:27.90. Eva Novy-Hildesley and Fiona Bodkin followed and finished 78th and 121st overall. Novy-Hildesley finished with 22:39.50 and Bodkin finished with a time of 22:56.00.

Megan Walter followed in 130th with a 23:02.10, Kate Sherry took 206th with a 23:34.00, Maggie Avey secured 213th with a 23:39.20, and Kendall Madine placed 229th with an individual finishing time of 23:51.40.
