SPARTANBURG, SC — The Pomona-Pitzer men's cross country team placed 8th at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.
"Both teams went into the meet hoping to place higher than their National rankings, and we did just that," said
Emma DeLira, associate head coach of cross country and track & field. "We had an opportunity to line up against some very good teams, and we had an amazing day. For the 8k team, getting three All-Americans is really incredible, and shows how strong Jack, Amir and Jeff are. And Peter moved up so well through the whole meet."
The Sagehens totaled 258 points with three runners in the top fifty. Pomona-Pitzer trailed John Hopkins and Tufts, who finished sixth and seventh place with 216 and 255 points, respectively.
Jack Stein led Pomona-Pitzer with eleventh place individual finish, running a time of 24:10.20.
Amir Barkan, and
Jefferson Wright followed and finished 23rd and 34th overall. Barkan finished with 24:30.80 and Wright finished with a time of 24:38.10.
Peter Neid finished in 74th with a 25:03.50 and
Tiernan Colby took 198th with a 25:59.80 time.
Ian Sharp finished 222nd with a time of 26:11.20 and
Nate Wehner placed 285th with 27:18.5.
