Sagehens To Induct 6 New Members Into Hall Of Fame

CLAREMONT, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer Athletic Hall of Fame will induct six individuals on May 1, 2025. This year's inductees include:

  • Anders Crabo (PO '12) – Men's Track & Field
  • Annie Lydens (PO '13) – Women's Cross Country and Track & Field (Will be inducted in 2026)
  • Martha Marich (PO '12) – Lacrosse
  • Luke Sweeney (PO '13) – Football
  • Alyssa Corley (PO '11) – Softball
  • Kirk Jones – Distinguished Service for Athletic Training

The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Edmunds Ballroom on the campus of Pomona College with the reception starting at 6:00 PM and the dinner at 6:30 PM. To register for the Hall of Fame Dinner, please visit the Hall of Fame page.


Pomona-Pitzer Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Inductee Bios

 
Anders Crabo (PO '12) Men's Track & Field
Crabo graduated from Sehome High School in 2008 where he competed in Cross Country, Track and Field and Soccer.  He earned two state championships at Sehome after he led his cross country team to a state championship and captained his soccer team to a state championship as well.  Crabo went on to continue his education and running career at Pomona College where he became a member of the cross country and track and field teams.
 
During his time with the Sagehens, Crabo became a two-time All-American with a top-5 finish at the NCAA Championships. He also became one of the only Sagehens to win the SCIAC Championship for one event for all four years of his collegiate career as well as a four-time All-SCIAC runner, Academic All-American, Team MVP, and set the conference record in the Steeplechase. 
 
Annie Lydens (PO '13)  Women's Cross Country and Track & Field 
Lydens grew up in Japan as an American citizen and then attended the American School of Singapore where she competed in track and field. Lydens went on to attend Pomona College where she majored in PPE and became one of the most decorated runners in program history.
 
During her time with the Sagehens, Lydens earned eight letters with four coming from cross country and four in track and field.  She finished her career as a two-time All-American with a third place finish in cross country, a West Regional Champion, three-time All-West runner, two-time SCIAC Runner of the Year and a two-time All-SCIAC runner.  For track and field, Lydens also earned All-American honors, finished as the National Runner-Up in the 5K in 2011 and is #10 all-time in the SCIAC in the 5K. Lydens will be unable to attend the ceremony in 2025 and will be inducted in 2026.
 
Martha Marich (PO '12)  Lacrosse
Marich grew up in Washington D.C. and graduated from National Cathedral School in 2008 where she played soccer and lacrosse.  Marich continued both her soccer and lacrosse career at Pomona College where she earned eight letters, four in soccer, four in lacrosse, for the Sagehens.
 
Marich walked into a newly founded varsity program in Sagehen Lacrosse and left her mark as one of the best athletes to come through the program to date and goes into the Pomona-Pitzer Hall of Fame as the first Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse athlete.

She finished her career as a three-time All-Region selection, a three-time All-SCIAC honoree, and a SCIAC Player of the Year. She still holds multiple program records, including:

  • Single-Season Goals (108)
  • Single-Season Ground Balls (100)
  • Single-Season Draw Controls (96)
 
Luke Sweeney (PO '13)  Football

Sweeney attended Holland Hall High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating in 2009. He continued his football career at Pomona College, where he became one of the most prolific running backs in Sagehen history.

Sweeney was a four-year starter and earned Preseason All-American Honors, Second Team All-West, and was a three-time All-SCIAC selection. In 2011, he became the first Sagehen to lead the nation in rushing yards (177.4 yards per game), finishing the season with a program-record 1,419 rushing yards.

He remains Pomona-Pitzer's all-time leader in:

  • Career Rushing Yards (3,004)
  • Single-Season Rushing Yards (1,419, 2011)
  • Single-Game Rushing Yards (265)

Sweeney also owns seven of the top 11 single-game rushing performances in Sagehen history.


Alyssa Corley (PO '11) Softball

Corley left a lasting mark on Pomona-Pitzer Softball, setting multiple program records that still stand today. She was a three-time All-SCIAC selection, including two First Team All-SCIAC honors, and served as a two-time team captain.

She remains the Pomona-Pitzer career leader in:

  • Home Runs (35)
  • RBIs (115)

She also ranks:

  • 8th in career hits (139)
  • 7th in career doubles (33)
  • 7th in career runs scored (78)
  • 9th in career batting average (.342)

Additionally, Corley appears in multiple single-season record lists, including:

  • Most Home Runs in a Season (13)
  • 2nd in Single-Season RBIs (42)
  • 9th in Single-Season Hits (50)
  • 6th in Single-Season Runs Scored (31)

After graduation, Corley earned her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. She completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard-affiliated hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She later trained in general and interventional cardiology at Duke University and is now board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine.

 
Kirk Jones Distinguished Service for Athletic Training
Formerly the Head Athletic Trainer with the Sagehens, Jones has been at Pomona-Pitzer since 1980. He established an internship program with Kaiser Permanente Medical Care where residents rotate through the training room for sports medicine exposure and spearheaded additional partnerships with Pomona Valley Sports Medicine, Casa Colina Hospital and Garey Orthopedics. Considered by many as a mentor and expert in injury prevention and rehabilitation, he was honored with the naming of a space in the new Center for Athletics, Recreation and Wellness by an alumna. The training room at Rains Center provided programs for prevention and treatment of athletic injuries, and conditioning and nutritional programs for 21 varsity sports, intramural, and club sports, as well as the college community.
 
He has served as an ATC with the National Sports Festival in Colorado, the International Swimming and Diving Championship, the Olympic Track and Field Trials, USA Handball Olympic Team, and served as the Head Athletic Trainer at the Track and Field Championship in West Germany.
 
Jones earned a B.S. degree in Physical Education from Chapman University in 1978, where he continued as a graduate assistant through 1979. His emphasis was on sports medicine, with a minor in education. He earned an M.S. degree in Physical Education with an emphasis on exercise physiology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1988.
 
Jones is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, from which he holds his ATC certification. He has been a past member of the American College of Sports Medicine which included presentation of sports medicine related topics. Research has also been published in the Journal of Physicians and Sports Medicine, the Journal of Post-Graduate Medicine, and Essentials of Sports Medicine. His work has also been reproduced in the NCAA Sports Medicine Guide.
 
Jones is a Full Professor of Physical Education having taught courses and independent study in the care and prevention of athletic injuries. He has had the privilege and honor of having taught numerous students who have gone on to successful careers in the medical profession. He is in his last year of phased retirement.
