CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's swimming & diving defeated UC Santa Cruz by a score of 156-69 Friday evening at Haldeman Pool.
The Sagehens posted a pair of pool records during the meet, both in the final event of the day, the 800-yard freestyle relay. Pomona-Pitzer's B team, built of
Karolina Dzieciol,
Naomi Locala,
Emmie Appl and
Valerie Mello, swam a 7:31.36 to win the event and set a new pool record. Dzieciol's 200-yard free to lead the relay was also a pool record. The Sagehens' other relay, the 400-yard medley, also won with a 3:46.37 in the first event of the day.
Mello posted the first individual event win of the meet, racing a 23.44 to win the 50-yard freestyle. Dzieciol then won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.70.
Francesca Coppo won the 100-yard freestyle with a 51.22.
Alanna Baker then won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.70.
Maren Rusk secured the win in the 500-yard freestyle after racing a time of 5:13.27.
Gabby Calvi won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.52.
In the diving events,
Charlotte Friedman won the 1m diving with a score of 230.40. She also won the 3m diving with a score of 218.15.
