NICHOLASVILLE, KY. -- The lights went out over Nicholasville on Friday, but not before a historic finish to a historic season for Pomona-Pitzer Women's Golf. A great final round +15 303 led the Sagehens to their highest ever finish at Nationals. The Hens brought home some hardware with a podium finish, solo third in all of Division III.
Newcomer Rachel Lemay continued to lead the way in her first bid at the National Title. The freshman from Monrovia, CA found a new home among the top of the leaderboard, notching an individual third place finish in the biggest event in the year. Her steady play continued, tallying 13 pars on her way to a final round 73. And once again, her strong mental fortitude was the story: after doubling the 5th (only her second double of the tournament), she finished her last 13 holes at one under par. She left Keene Trace at 5 over for the event, and some hardware to bear - and the highest individual finish in PP Golf history.
Junior Emily Chang was the next finisher, capping off a personal best year with a T17 finish in Kentucky. The All-American Second Teamer closed with an even par 36 on the back for a +5 77, and +13 for the tournament.
Senior Katelyn Vo capped off her incredible career at Pomona-Pitzer in fashion, with a top 25 finish at NCAAs. Her final year contained many accolades, including being named All-American First Team and being ranked in the top ten in the nation. In her final round, she knocked in a couple of bombs on holes 3 and 9 for birdie on her way to a +4 76, and +15 for the tournament.
First-year Eunice Yi capped off a stellar Freshman campaign with a T41 finish, notching 3 birdies on her way to a +5 77, +21 for the tournament.
Sophomore Federica Domecq Lacroze also finished the season with three birdies and a 77. The All-West and All-SCIAC selection finished at T49 for the event.
