CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 2 seeded Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to No. 3 Redlands 5-1 in the Semifinals of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 12-13 overall and end their season in the SCIAC Semifinals.
The Sagehens started with one win during the doubles competition after Redlands took wins at No. 3 and No. 1 doubles. The Sagehens got their lone with of the day at the No. 2 doubles as
Sam English and
Owen Kelley came away with an 8-6 win.
Ethan Lee and
Neil Chulani fell at No. 3 doubles 8-5 and the big turning point of the match came at No. 1 doubles as Redlands was able to defeat
Eshaan Lumba and
Matthew Feng in a tiebreaker, 8-7 to take a 2-1 lead into singles.
The Bulldogs carried their momentum into singles to quickly put the match away. Lumba fell in his match at No. 1 singles by the scores of 6-3, 6-2 while
Matthew Feng and Rohun Krishan both lost their matches by the scores of 6-4, 6-3 as the Sagehens dropped their semifinal match with Redlands.
