Sagehens Win SCIAC 3 and Hit Top Marks at Bryan Clay Invite

LA VERNE, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's track and field team won the SCIAC 3 Dual meet on Saturday, scoring 66 points with La Verne taking second with 33 points and Cal Lutheran finishing in third with 25 points. The Sagehens also sent a crew to Azusa Pacific University to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational in stacked fields with competition from all over the country.

Meet Highlights 
In the 3,000m steeplechase invite, Colin Kirkpatrick stormed through the race to run an 8:53.64 which leads NCAA Division III and gave Kirkpatrick a 38th place finish in a field of nearly 50 Division I competitors. In the 800m, Bennett Booth-Genthe set an NCAA Division III leading time of 1:48.08 to take 15th overall, lowering his time from the Stanford Invitational by over wo seconds. In the 5,000m, Derek Fearon led the Sagehens with a 14th place finish, crossing the line in 14:07.54 with Lucas Florsheim crossing the line in 14:14.35 to take 19th overall. The Sagehens 4 x 100m relay team of Harrison Brown, Gavin Doig, Jake Hallesy, and Chris Taylor turned in a 42.05 second performance, taking 14th overall. Sam Butler ran a strong 400m for the Sagehens, taking 58th after running 49.20 seconds. Chris Taylor and Gavin Doig both ran well in the 100m with Taylor running a 10.92 to take 68th while Doig crossed in 11.20 to take 98th. In the 1500m C group, Quinn White finished his race in 3:53.66 to take fourth while Peter Neid ran a 4:02.04.
