COSTA MESA, CA. – The No. 1 ranked Pomona-Pitzer Women's Golf team finished as Champions of the SCIAC I Tournament with
Katelyn Vo tying for the SCIAC I Individual Title this past weekend at Los Lagos.
Pomona-Pitzer owned the course against a stacked SCIAC I competition at Los Lagos with the Sagehens finishing with the most amount of Pars as a team with 123 and finished with the best average score on Par 3s with 3.08 and Par 4s with 4.21. The Sagehens were tied with CMS after day one with 288 in second with Redlands holding the top spot at 287, but Pomona-Pitzer edged out the Athenas in day two by four strokes for the win.
The Sagehens ended the tournament with a total score of 579, CMS in second at 583, and Redlands in third with 584.
Leading the way for the Sagehens was Vo who tied for the Individual Title with Christine Yu of CMS with a final score of 141. Vo had a perfect round of golf in day one where she did not bogey a single hole. Vo had two borides on holes 3 and 5 to come in at 69 on the day. Vo then came back in day two with three birdies and was able to hold on for the win after birdies at 14 and 17 to close out her round to tie for the top spot.
Emily Chang also finished inside the top-5 after she tied for third overall with a 145. Chang came out with a 72 in round one with birdies at holes 5, 13, and 15 and then shot a 73 in round two with three birdies as well as the second-lowest score for the Sagehens.
Rachel LeMay tied for sixth overall after she finished one stroke behind Chang with a 146. LeMay started round one with two birdies to shoot one over par and came back with three birdies but fell into a little trouble on the back nine to bring her score to a 74 for her 146.
Ottavia Lombardo tied for 11
th overall with a 149. Lombardo started out with a 77 in round one but came back strong with a 72 in round two including back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 to tie for 11
th.
Ending the tournament for the Sagehens was
Federica Domecq Lacroze who shot a consistent 75 for both rounds for a 150. Lacroze had two birdies in her opening round and ended the tournament with a birdie on 18 to tie for 13
th overall.
