Box Score ROCKY MT, NORTH CAROLINA – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to North Carolina Wesleyan 8-1 on Friday afternoon.
Season Impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 1-3 overall to start the year.
The Sagehens fell behind early against North Carolina Wesleyan as the Bishops took two of the three doubles to start the match.
Pomona-Pitzer started out strong with a win at the No. 1 position as teammates
Matthew Feng and
Eshaan Lumba came back after being down 0-2 for an 8-3 win. The Sagehens went on to drop the doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3 as
Sam English and
Owen Kelley fell 8-4 at the No. 2 spot and
Neil Chulani and
Ethan Lee dropped their match 8-5 to give NCW a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
Pomona-Pitzer started with losses at the No. 6 spot as Chulani fell 6-1, 6-3. NCW went on to clinch with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 as
Rohun Krishnan lost his singles match 6-4, 6-1 and English fell 6-4, 7-5.
The Sagehens did go three sets at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 singles but ended up losing all three matches. Lee took the first set of No. 1 singles 6-1 but dropped set two 6-4 and set three, 6-2. Feng also started out with a win in the opening set but fell by the scores of 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 while Lumba fell in his singles match 6-2, 5-7, 1-0.
