CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's swimming & diving cruised past Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by a score of 221 to 132 Saturday following the conclusion of the two-day meet.
The Sagehens opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay, racing to a time of 3:46.48.
Izzy Yoon,
Francesca Coppo, Mary Louisa Leopold and
Joy Lee made up the team and won the event by over two seconds.
Emmie Appl then posted the team's first individual event win in the 200-yard IM, clocking a 2:06.29.
Coppo raced to a pool record and a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a final time of 23.34. Pomona-Pitzer's 200-yard freestyle relay team, made up of Lee, Coppo,
Nina Aballea and
Valerie Mello, then won the event with a pool record time of 1:33.38. The Sagehens' 200-yard medley relay team also won its event with a pool record time of 1:42.89.
Appl posted another win in the 400-yard IM, racing a time of 4:30.49. Yoon won the 100-yard backstroke with a 56.31.
Charlotte Dixon then won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.27. Coppo won the 100-yard breaststroke after clocking a 1:04.55. Yoon posted another win in the 200-yard backstroke, racing a pool record time of 2:02.25.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Mello tied the pool record with a time of 50.56 to win the event. Appl then won the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:19.24.
Asha Bansal posted a win of her own in the 200-yard butterfly. The Sagehens closed out the meet with a pool record and a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay, racing a 3:23.98. Dixon, Coppo, Aballea and Mello composed the relay team.
Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Friday, Jan. 10, when the team faces Whittier on the road.
