Sagehens Top Redlands in Road Dual

REDLANDS, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's swim and dive team earned a 223-61 victory over the University of Redlands Bulldogs in a road dual on Saturday afternoon. The Sagehens will be back in action on Jan. 27 when they travel to Chapman for a double dual with the Panthers and Caltech. 
 
In The Results
The Sagehens started the day with Alanna Baker, Francesca Coppo, Asha Bansal, and Maren Rusk combining for a time of 4:01.82 to take first place. The Sagehens swept the 1650 with Bennett Jones and Abby Raclaw fighting to the finish with Jones touching in 18:05.56 for first with Raclaw taking second in 18:05.76. Maren Rusk won the 200 free in 1:58.54 with Valerie Mello taking second in 1:59.71. In the 50 back, Abbey Liao won with a time of 27.50 seconds with three Sagehens behind her with Gabby Calvi taking second in 27.99 seconds. The Sagehens continued to earn sweeps with Francesca Coppo, Abby Smith, and Sanjna Battepatti taking first through third in the 50 breast with Coppo leading the way with a time of 31.43 seconds. Battepatti won the 200 fly with a time of 2:19.76. Alexandra Turvey earned the victory in the 50 free with a time of 24.11 seconds with Chesna Pelka taking second in 24.57 seconds. Valerie Mello and Maren Rusk took first and second in the 100 free with Mello touching in 53.17 seconds with Rusk touching in 54.88 seconds. Emmy Luu led the way for the Sagehens in the 200 back with a first place finish, touching the wall in 2:13.41. Emmie Appl picked up the win in the 200 breast with a time of 2:28.20. Andrea Bish won the 500 free with a time of 5:29.46. with Elise Jones taking second in 5:33.06. In the 50 fly, Chesna Pelka took first with a time of 26.16 seconds with Sabrina Wang and Asha Bansal taking second and third. In the 100 IM, Katie Gould took first with a time of 1:00.65 with Gabby Calvi and May Ling Roberts taking second and third. Alexandra Turvey, Abbey Liao, Abby Smith, and Katie Gould combined for a time of 3:36.92 to take first in the 400 free relay. 
 
Charlotte Friedman took second in the 3m dive with 214.85 points and second in the 1m dive with 225.25 points.
