CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's swim and dive team earned a pair of victories over Colorado College and Biola in their midweek double dual in Haldeman Pool. The Sagehens defeated Colorado College 217-81 while earning a 204-88 win over Biola. Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on January 13th when they travel to Redlands at 10:30 a.m.
In The Results
The Sagehens started off the day with a victor in the 200 medley relay as
Abbey Liao,
Francesca Coppo,
Sabrina Wang, and
Valerie Mello combined for a time of 1:48.08. In the 1000 free,
Abby Raclaw took first overall with a time of 10:43.69 with
Andrea Bish taking second in 11:02.03.
Alexandra Turvey won the 200 free with a time of 1:55.46 with
Abby Smith (1:57.47) and
Katie Gould (1:57.84) taking second and third to sweep the event. In the 100 backstroke,
Abbey Liao took first place with a time of 1:00.68 with
Valerie Mello taking second in 1:00.78.
Dylan Hutchinson and
Francesca Coppo took second and third in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 1:08.30 and 1:08.71. The Sagehens swept the 200 fly with
Asha Bansal leading the way in 2:07.71 while
Maren Rusk and Benneett Jones took second and third in 2:12.81 and 2:13.16. Pomona-Pitzer also swept the 50 free with
Sabrina Wang,
Chesna Pelka, and
Gabby Calvi touching in 24.47s, 24.61s, and 24.80s. In the 100 free,
Alexandra Turvey took first with a time of 52.48s while
Francesca Coppo and
Katie Gould tied with a time of 53.62s.
Alanna Baker took second for Pomona-Pitzer in the 200 back, touching the wall in 2:12.63. In the 200 breast,
Dylan Hutchinson took first with a time of 2:30.32 with
Emmie Appl taking third in 2:31.02. In the 500 free,
Abby Smith took first with a time of 5:16.23 with
Maren Rusk taking second in 5:24.09. In the 100 fly,
Chesna Pelka took first with a time of 58.47s with
Sabrina Wang taking second in 58.69s. In the 200 IM,
Bennett Jones earned the first place finish with a time of 2:11.59 with
Gabby Calvi taking second in 2:13.43. The Sagehens ended the day with a first place finish in the 200 free relay as
Francesca Coppo,
Emmy Luu,
Sabrina Wang, and
Valerie Mello combined for a time of 1:36.01.
Charlotte Friedman took fourth in the 1m dive with 235.05 and took fourth in the 3m dive, scoring 228.85 points.
