CLAREMONT, CA. - The Pomona-Pitzer Athletic Hall of Fame will induct nine individuals on April 25, 2024. Those being inducted include: Siobhan N Grillon (Finicane) (PO '10) for Women's Tennis, Alicia Freese (PO '10) for Cross Country & Track & Field, Jake Caron (PZ '11) for Football, RJ Maki (PO '11) for Football, Ayda Austin (PO '97) for Softball, James Kang (PZ '10) for Baseball, David Colvin (PZ '11) for Baseball, Tamara Perea (PZ '11) for Women's Water Polo, and Ed Gulick (PO '63) for Men's Tennis.
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 25
th, 2024 in the Center for Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness (CARW) at Pomona College at 220 E. Sixth Street, Claremont.
Below are full bios of the Pomona-Pitzer Hall of Fame Class of 2024:
Siobhan N Grillon (Finicane) (PO '10) Women's Tennis
Â
Grillon graduated from Bancroft School in 2006 where she played tennis for four years and served as a Varsity Captain for her high school team. The Boston, Massachusetts native went on to continue her tennis career at Pomona College where she majored in Psychology and left as one of the most decorated athletes to come through the Sagehen Women's Tennis program.

During her time with the Sagehens, Grillon became a part of an elite list of Sagehens to win a National Championship with her doubles ITA title in 2007 and NCAA Singles Champion in 2008. Grillon was a staple in Division III tennis over her four years earning four All-American honors, a four-time qualifier for the NCAA Tournament, a four-time All-West selection, a four-time SCIAC Champion, a four-time SCIAC MVP, and a four-time All-SCIAC selection.

She was also a Team Captain, Pomona College Most Valuable Athlete in 2009, Blair Nixon Service Award recipient, and earned the Pomona-Pitzer Scholar-Athlete Award.

After leaving Pomona College, Grillon played professionally for two years traveling to tournaments throughout the US, Turkey, Italy, and France. She also taught at the Melbourne Tennis Park, where the Australian Open is held, during her semester abroad as well as at the Longwood Cricket Club.Â

She currently works in Commercial Real Estate Finance as a Vice President for PNC Bank

Alicia Freese (PO '10) Cross Country / Track & Field
Â
Freese graduated from The Sharon Academy in 2006 where she ran cross country, track & field, and played basketball and soccer where she was the D3 State Champion in the mile. The Vermont native went on to attend Pomona College where she ran cross country and track & field and majored in International Relations.

During her time with the Sagehens, Freese brought the programs to new heights leaving as the highest-placing Sagehen at Nationals for cross country at the time, set multiple school records for track, and finished as a National Runner-up.
Â
For cross country, Freese left Pomona-Pitzer as a two-time All-American with a 16th-place finish at Nationals (highest finish at the time), three-time National qualifier, NCAA West Regional Champion, West Region Runner of the Year, two-time SCIAC Runner of the Year, and a two-time SCIAC Champion.
Â
For track & field, Freese finished as a National Runner-Up in the 10K, 5th in the 5000m, two-time All-American, set school records in the 3K, 5K, and 10K, and a three-time SCIAC Champion.
Â
After graduating from Pomona College, Freese returned to the Sagehen program and coached the Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country team in 2010 when coach Reynolds was on sabbatical.

Jake Caron (PZÂ '11) Football
Â
Caron graduated from Cheshire Academy in 2007 where he played football, baseball, and track for four years. He was Team Captain and First Team All-Colonial League as a QB and won a State Championship for Track & Field while setting the school record in the 4x100 relay. Caron continued his athletic career at Pitzer College where he majored in Sociology and minored in Literature.

During his time with the Sagehens, Caron was the first ever player to be awarded SCIAC Athlete of the Year for Pomona-Pitzer, four-time All-SCIAC selection, SCIAC Newcomer of the Year, two-time Team MVP, 2008 Team Offensive MVP, 2007 Team Rookie of the Year, and the Pitzer College Dan Daley Award. He also ended his career as the No. 10 ranked passer in NCAA Division III.

Caron earned his way into the Sagehen record books in multiple categories. He set the school record for career total yardage (9,225), passing yards (8,408), completions (651), rushing touchdowns (45), and total TDs (89) He also set the single-game record for passing yards (507) in 2008 vs Oxy and the single-game record for total TDs (7) in 2008 vs. Lewis & Clark.

After leaving Pitzer College, Caron went on to play professionally in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the Utah Blaze and went overseas to play with the Bern Grizzlies, Bologna Warriors, and the Stockholm Mean-Machines.

After his playing career, Caron continued to coach football at Pomona-Pitzer, Redlands, and UNLV and currently coaches the Ransom Everglades School as the Head Football Coach and Physical Education Faculty member.

RJ Maki (PO '11) Football
Â
Maki graduated from Claremont High School in 2006 where he played football and basketball for the Wolfpack. The Claremont native stayed local and attended Pomona College to continue his football and basketball career for the Sagehens.
Â
During his time for the Sagehens, Maki became the most prolific wide receiver in Sagehen football history. He cemented himself into the record books in multiple categories that still stand today. Maki set Pomona-Pitzer records for career total receptions (256), receiving yards (3,070), single-season receptions (93), and receiving yards (1,219). Maki led the nation in receptions per game as a senior (10.3 per game) and finished third in the nation as a junior (10.1 per game). He finished second in the nation in receiving yards per game as a junior (135.4 per game).Â

Maki was also a three-time All-SCIAC selection, SCIAC John Zinda award recipient and was a four-year member of the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team, helping the Sagehens to a conference title in 2008.

Following his senior season, he was selected to play in the D3 Senior Classic game in Salem, Virginia, and the NCAA Division III Tazon de Estrellas All-Star game in Mexico.

He currently coaches the Sagehens as a wide receivers coach and a Sales Manager at Equis Financial.

Ayda Aukahi Austin Seabury (PO '97) Softball
Â
Austin graduated from The Punahou School in 1993 and went on to continue her education and playing career at Pomona College for the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens.
Â
Austin attended Pomona College from 1993-1997 where she was a four-year member of the Pomona-Pitzer Softball program. Austin excelled at both pitching and hitting for the Sagehens as a dual-threat athlete where she set records for both hitting and pitching. During her time with the Sagehens, Austin set the program career records for wins (44), ERA (3.14), strikeouts (266), complete games (98), shutouts (8), games pitched (114) as well as RBI in a single season (27).

Austin finished her career with the Sagehens as a three-time Team MVP, three-time Team Captain, First Team All-SCIAC selection, and a Second Team All-SCIAC selection. Austin also led a team that set the program record in wins with 16 in 1997 that held until 2008 when the Sagehens eclipsed the 20-win mark with 21.
Austin now is the Executive Director and licensed Clinical Psychologist at I Ola Lahui.Â

James R. Kang (PZ '10) Baseball
Â
Kang Graduated from Ocean View High School in 2006 where he played baseball for four years and earned a CIF Championship in 2005 and was named Team Captain in 2006. The Monterey Park native went on to continue his playing career at Pitzer College where he majored in Economics and became a major contributor to one of the most successful stretches in Pomona-Pitzer Baseball history that saw three SCIAC Championships over his time.

During his time with the Sagehens, Kang was named an ABAC Second Team All-American, SCIAC Player of the Year, First Team All-SCIAC, and Pomona-Pitzer's Most Outstanding Athlete.
Â
Kang left the Sagehens with numerous marks in the record books including top-10 marks in games played, hits, RBI, doubles, and runs scored. He currently sits at sixth in career hits (248), eighth in career RBI (156), tied for first in doubles (64), and second in runs scored (195).

After leaving Pomona-Pitzer, Kang was drafted by the Boston Red Sox and played within the Red Sox organization for several years. He currently works as an International Crosschecker for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He resides in Boston with his wife Sarah, son Charlie and dog Zooey.

David Colvin (PZ '11) Baseball

Colvin graduated from Tamalpais High School in 2007 where he played baseball for four years and was a Varsity Captain for his high school team. The Mill Valley native went on to continue his playing career at Pitzer College where he majored in Sociology and became a major contributor to one of the most successful stretches in Pomona-Pitzer Baseball history.

During his time with the Sagehens, Colvin was named a D3Baseball Preseason All-American, a four-time First Team All-SCIAC selection, Second Team All-SCIAC during his freshman year, Pomona-Pitzer Most Valuable Athlete, and Pitzer College Student-Athlete of the Year.
Â
He left the Sagehens as the All-Time leader in career wins (35), innings pitched (369 1/3), games started (50), and career strikeouts (302). He achieved the most strikeouts in a single season with 107 and tied for most wins in a single season (10).
Â
After leaving Pomona-Pitzer, Colvin went on to play professional baseball for the Seattle Mariners organization and was named Pitcher of the Year in 2013 with the High Desert Mavericks and was also named to the 2010's D3 Baseball All-Decade Team.

Colvin currently works as an Enterprise Account Executive at Trax Technologies.
Tamara Perea (PZÂ '11) Water Polo
Â
Perea graduated from Upland High School in 2007 where she played water polo for four years for the Highlanders. She was an All-American, Team Captain, a two-time CIF Southern Section Champion, First Team All-CIF, Second Team All-CIF, four-time Baseline League Champion, Baseline League MVP, First Team All-Baseline League and Second Team All-Baseline League. The Upland native stayed local as she attended Pitzer College where she majored in Psychology and became a huge contributor to the Sagehen Women's Water Polo team.

During her time as a Sagehen, Perea led the Sagehens to a Division III National Championship, two Division I NCAA Tournament Championship appearances, and two SCIAC Championships. She finished her career as one of the most decorated women's water polo athletes as a two-time Division III Player of the Year, three-time Division III All-American, two-time SCIAC Player of the Year, four-time All-SCIAC selection, NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team, and Pomona-Pitzer Female Athlete of the Year honors in 2011.

After graduating from Pitzer College, Perea played professionally at C.N La Latina-Covibar Rivas as a contracted athlete with FMN (Federacion Madrileña de Natación) and was the leader in goals scored and assists.
Â
After her playing career, Perea began coaching water polo where she's made stops at Marist College, Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont High School, Bonita High School, Foothill Club Water Polo, Olympic Development Program, Head Coach at Siena College, and currently as an assistant coach at Fresno State.
Edward S Gulick (PO '63) Â Men's Tennis
Â
Gulick graduated from El Camino High School in 1959 where he participated in track and field, tennis, and basketball. He graduated as one of the top students with his GPA ranked sixth in his class. He was a part of Wheel Club and was awarded a State Scholarship before heading to Pomona College to continue his education and compete at the collegiate level for tennis.Â
Gulick graduated from Pomona College in 1963 after spending four years as a member of the Pomona College Men's Tennis team. Gulick cemented himself as one of the best players of his time after earning the title of Team Captain, SCIAC Singles Champion, NAIA District III Singles Champion, and SCIAC Doubles Champion.

Gulick had a significant run during his senior year that saw him finish his Sagehen career in the Quarterfinals of both the NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles competition. During that season, Gulick also had a win over John Lee of LA State who went on to win the Division II National Championship later that season.
After graduation, Gulick continued his tennis career overseas and Played in seven clay court tournaments in Austria and two grass tournaments in England. He reached the Semifinals in the French NCAA equivalent, trained as a linesman/umpire, and helped found Monterey Umpires. He then went into coaching as a high school tennis coach and became the Head Pro at Carmel Valley Racquet Club and Head Pro at Foothills Tennis Club in Palo Alto.Â
Gulick is now retired after four careers as a high school history teacher, teaching tennis for 15 years, a real estate appraiser, and a biotech lab support/charting & Excel Specialist. He is still playing tennis to this day at 82 years of age.Â
