Sagehens Tie For First at D3 Shootout and Defeat Cal Lutheran on Saturday

CHICAGO, Il. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's swim and dive team fought their way into a tie for first place with the University of Chicago at the D3 Shootout, finishing with 459 points. The Sagehens picked up the win against the California Lutheran Kingsmen in Thousand Oaks today as well, defeated CLU 196-150. The Sagehens will be back in action on Nov. 11 when they host La Verne and Occidental at 10:30 a.m.
 
D3 Shootout Meet Highlights
The Sagehens 400 medley relay team of Larry Yu, Nate Levy, Isaac Pan, and Adrian Clement took second in the event, combining for a time of 3:19.53. Tag Curwen took third overall in the 500 free with a time of 4:41.23. In the 200 breaststroke, Yu won the event with a NCAA B Cut time of 2:01.29. In the 400 freestyle mixed relay, Casey Jacobs, Chesna Pelka, Kyle Huang, and Maren Rusk combined for a time of 3:18.42 to take second place. Ian Conner took second in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.32. In the 100 free, Tag Curwen took third with a time of 46.33 seconds. In the 200 IM, Larry Yu set the meet record with an NCAA B Cut time of 1:48.56. In the 200 freestyle relay, Casey Jacobs, Tag Curwen, Ian Conner, and Adrian Clement combined for a time of 1:23.13 to win the event. 
 
In the 3m dive, Liam Gilbert-Lawrence took fifth with 238 points. 
 
Pomona-Pitzer vs. Cal Lutheran Meet Highlights
The 400 medley relay team of Cassidy Liu, Jack Hoppe, Gordon Kenny, and Eric Liu started the day off with a win in the 400 medley relay, combining for a time of 3:31.60. In the 100 back, Cassidy Liu took first with a time of 52.53 seconds. Jack Hoppe won the 100 breast with a time of 59.25 seconds with Gordon Kenny winning the 200 fly in 1:55.35. Eric Liu won the 50 free with a time of 21.86 seconds and later won the 100 free in 47.86 seconds. Liam Hochman won the 1m dive with 240.10 points and the 3m dive with 214.15 points. Hoppe also won the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.61. Cassidy Liu took first in the 100 fly with a time of 51.56 seconds. Allen Chang won the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.84. In the 200 free relay, Eric Liu, Evan Aballea, Lan Zhu, and Lenny Raybukh took first in the after with a time of 1:27.25.
