Sagehens Soar to Third-Straight SCIAC Championship

RIVERSIDE, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's cross country team ran to their third-straight Conference Title in dominant fashion on Saturday morning, finishing with 23 team points with all five scorers placing in the top-10. The Sagehens finished with nine runners earning All-SCIAC for their top-20 finishes. Pomona-Pitzer earned 23 team points in their victory, comfortably defeating CMS (61) and Caltech (103). Lucas Florsheim earned the individual championship by nearly 10 seconds to lead the pack.
 
How It Happened 
The Sagehens took an early lead at the gun and never looked back. Lucas Florsheim earned the individual championship with a time of 24:44.3 while Derek Fearon and Cameron Hatler took third and fourth with times of 25:00.6 and 25:03.5. Colin Kirkpatrick and Jack Stein rounded out the stellar top-five showing as the duo took seventh and eighth after crossing the line in 25:10.8 and 25:12.2. Owen Kobett, Ian Horsburgh, and Evan Villano were the next three to cross the line, taking 15th, 16th, and 17th with times of 25:35.4, 25:39.4, and 25:41.0. Peter Neid rounded out the All-SCIAC performances for the Sagehens after taking 20th with a time of 25:46.8. 
 
Pomona-Pitzer had a handful of other runners finish in the top-50 as Alex Maxwell, Quinn White, Bennett Booth-Genthe, Jayan Nitzsche, Dash Lipsey, and John Bard all performed well for the Sagehens.
