RIVERSIDE, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's swim and dive team opened the 2023-24 campaign with a 227-41 victory over Caltech while falling to California Baptist 146-135. The Sagehens will be back in action on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 when they travel to Chicago for the D3 Shootout.
Meet Highlights
The 200 medley relay team of
Abbey Liao,
Francesca Coppo, Alex Turvey, and
Katie Gould took second with a time of 1:47.46.
Sabrina Wang took second in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.69.
Gabby Calvi took second in the 100 back with a time of 59.22 seconds with
Katie Gould finishing in third in 59.81 seconds.
Abby Smith won the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.95. Alex Turvey won the 50 free with a time of 24.09 seconds with
Chesna Pelka taking second in 24.37 seconds. The Sagehens swept the 500 free as
Bennett Jones took first in 5:17.00 with
Andrea Bish (5:24.54) and
Maren Rusk (5:25.28) taking second and third.
Alex Turvey won the 100 fly in 57.13 seconds with
Asha Bansal taking second in 58.45 seconds.
Bennett Jones won the 200 IM after touching the wall in 2:11.37 while
Karolina Dzieciol (2:11.57) and
Abby Smith (2:14.55) took second and third in the event. The 400 free relay team of
Chesna Pelka, Alex Turvey,
Sabrina Wang, and
Katie Gould won the event in 3:32.22. In the 1m dive,
Charlotte Friedman took sixth with 219.45 points.
