CLAREMONT, CA – Maddie Kauahi won the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle and the Sagehens scored a win in the 200 yard medley relay, but the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swimming and Diving team couldn't pull off the win at rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Season Impact: The Sagehens drop their first SCIAC dual meet of the year but have a week and a half to recover before heading into the SCIAC Championships.
Individual Races
The Sagehens scored a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay with Cayla Nishizaki leading the way at 1:57.46. Eva Gontrum followed in second place (1:58.01) and Katherine Lauerman placed third (1:58.20)
Kauahi continued her dominance in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, winning both events on Saturday. In the 50 freestyle she touched at 23.97 with teammate Nishizaki taking third (24.69). In the 100 freestyle she won with a time of 52.68 with Nishizaki again taking third (52.68).
Sabrina Kwan took first in the 200 yard butterfly, securing her win with a time of 2:09.46. Kwan also took second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.69.
Eva Gontrum won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.30. Gontrum took second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:13.15.
Lauerman had a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle touching at 10:48.41.
Freshman Mallorie Hsu took third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.86. Sarah Jin finished third in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:11.11.
Relays
The Sagehens opened the meet with a close win in the 200 yard medley relay. Angela Ling, Erin Bigus, Jin, and Kauahi finished with a time of 1:45.47, ahead of the Athenas' top team that touched at 1:46.04.
Pomona-Pitzer took second in the 400 yard freestyle relay with the team of Nishizaki, Gontrum, Kwan, and Kauahi finishing at 3:36.50.
Diving
Ellen Wang took second in the three-meter dive with a score of 266.50. She took fourth in the one-meter with a score of 247.35.
Next Meet: The Sagehens compete next at the SCIAC Championships at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center in Commerce beginning Wednesday, February 15. The results at the SCIAC Championships account for 100 percent of the final SCIAC standings.
