TACOMA, WA – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Swimming and Diving team swept multiple events on their way to a blow out win at Puget Sound Saturday afternoon, beating the Loggers 250-87.
The Sagehens opened up the individual competition taking the top three spots in the 400 yard IM. Liam O'Shea led the way with a time of 4:13.64. Samuel To finished second (4:15.92), and Erik Garcia (4:21.36) followed in third.
Zach Senator secured a win in the 200 yard freestyle (1:46.91), with Danny Villars coming in second (1:49.14), and James Baker taking third (1:49.23).
Pomona-Pitzer took the top two spots in the 100 yard breaststroke. Nick Lewis took first with a winning time of 1:01.44 and Kyle Dalrymple finished second (1:02.74).
The Sagehens went 1-2 in the 200 yard butterfly. Will Abele won the event (1:59.20) and Jack Swanson came in second (2:04.72).
Adrian Hui scored nine points for the Sagehens with his performance in the 50 butterfly with a winning time of 23.66.
In the 50 freestyle, Villars won with a time of 21.85 Samuel To followed in second with a time of 22.00.
The Sagehens' dominance continued in the 100 yard freestyle with Abele winning the race (49.27), Senator finishing second (49.94), and Nathan Hahn coming in third (50.61).
Mark Rusznak won the 200 yard backstroke finishing at 2:01.41.
Garcia, Peter Hansen, and Daniel To went 1-2-3 in the 50 backstroke, finishing with times of 25.71, 26.02, and 26.06 respectively.
Pomona-Pitzer kept on rolling, taking the top three spots again in the 200 breaststroke. Samuel To touched first (2:13.22), Jeffrey Tran followed next (2:18.84), and Robert Buxton rounded up the third spot (2:19.04).
Teddy Koerner led the way in the 50 breaststroke with a winning time of 27.91. Nick Lewis finished second (28.01), and Dalrymple took third (28.46).
In the 500 yard freestyle O'Shea (4:55.76), Spencer Satz (5:01.25), and James Baker (5:01.88) went 1-2-3.
Hui won the 100 butterfly (52.47) Tran following in third (57.49). Hansen took second in the 100 backstroke (57.54) and Koerner finished third (59.95).
Villars won the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.27 and Garcia took second (2:02.84). Nathan Hahn closed out the individual portion of the meet with a second place finish in the 100 yard IM with a time of 58.66.
Relay Events
The Sagehens took the top two spots in the 200 yard medley relay. The team of Villars, Kyle Allison, Abele, and Ryan Franzese won with a time of 1:39.37. Rusznak, Dalrymple, Hansen, and Lewis came in second with a time of 1:41.01.
Satz, Samuel To, Garcia, and Hui closed out the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle with a winning time of 1:28.01. Swanson, Senator, Lewis, and O'Shea took second (1:30.98).
Next Meet: The Sagehens return to Haldeman Pool next Saturday for a home meet against Caltech and Occidental at 10:30 a.m.
