CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Pomona-Pitzer women's swimming and diving team defeated Worcester Polytechnic Institute in a dual meet 223-61 on Tuesday morning at Haldeman Pool.
Senior Dawn Barlow made an NCAA B cut in diving as she completed a final score of 239.40.
The women started off the competition with a first place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with the team of freshman Sarah Jin, freshman Clare Flynn, junior Christina Williamson and junior Cayla Nishizaki clocking in at 1:53.71.
The Sagehens went on to place first in 11 out of the 12 individual races. Sophomore Vee Vanderpool won the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:58.40. Nishizaki went on to win the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:02.35 and won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.13.
Jin placed first in three events during the dual meet. First in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 59:32, again in the 200 Yard Backstroke at 2:11.67 and once more in the 200 Yard IM at 2:17.52.
Freshman Erin Bigus won the 100 Yard Backstroke at 1:12.30 and then went on to take the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:32.93.
Sophomore Kara Miller-Radest came in first place in the 200 Yard Butterfly at 2:13.21 and also won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:01.67.
Freshman Maddie Kauahi won the 100 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 53.81.
The Sagehens capped off the meet with a win in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with the team of Kauahi, Nishizaki, senior Johanna Rayl and sophomore Alex Seidel clocking in with a time of 1:41.23.
The Sagehens next hit the pool on Saturday, January 9th at 11 a.m. at Chapman.
