Women's Cross Country: Sagehens Take Home Three First Team All-SCIAC

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2018 All-SCIAC Cross Country team on Friday morning. The First Team All-SCIAC honors were determined by the top-10 finishers at the SCIAC Championships, while the Second Team Honors were awarded to the next 10 to finish the race.

Helen Guo was named 2018 SCIAC Athlete of the Year after winning the SCIAC Championship meet with a time of 22:59.3. Her performance helped the Sagehens finish in second place in the team standings. This is the junior's second straight year winning a First Team All-SCIAC award.

First year Lila Cardillo took SCIAC Newcomer of the Year honors, having impressed in her collegiate debut season and finishing second overall at the SCIAC Championship at 23:27.7. She also took First Team All-SCIAC honors as well.

Senior Maddie Bennet took home the Celia Peterson Award for her incredible service outside the track. Bennet currently serves as the captain of the women's cross country team and has been a member of the 2016 and 2017 NCAA West Regional team. The senior is involved in the Gift of Life Club, signing up people for the bone marrow registry. She is in charge of advocacy for Challah for Hunger, and serves as the president for the Psychology Club at Pitzer College.

Genevieve DiBari also took first team All-SCIAC after finishing in seventh place at the SCIAC Championship with a time of 23:59.5.

The Sagehens will compete on Saturday, November 10 at the NCAA West Regional in Walla Walla, Washington in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championship.
