Women's Cross Country: Guo And Hamilton Shine During Opening Meet

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed in their opening meet this weekend with fellow Southern California intercollegiate athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponents La Verne and Occidental on Friday afternoon.

The women's team totaled 33 points and ran a total time of 1:18:26. Leading the pack was the sophomore duo of Helen Guo and Lauren Hamilton who took first and second, respectively.

Guo crossed the line first at a time of 14:50 and on her heels was Hamilton just four seconds later at 14:54.

The Sagehens had two more runners crack the top-10 with Maddie Bennet coming in seventh place at 15:59 and Isabella Kearney finished in 10th at 16:18.

Claire Goldman and Kristen Hernandez finished back to back as Goldman crossed the finish at 13th overall at 16:25 and Hernandez came in at 14th at 16:27.

Pomona-Pitzer had two more top-20 finishers with Jennifer Acevedo coming in at 17th with a time of 16:45 and Katie Li in 20th at 16:53.

Rounding out the day for the Sagehens was Jordan Grimaldi at 23rd overall at 17:00 and Linda Huang in 28th at 17:12.

The Sagehens will next compete in the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, September 16th at 7:30 a.m.
