Women's Water Polo: Sagehens Prepare For SCIAC Tournament

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team is set to begin the 2017 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship hosted by the University of La Verne on April 21st – 23rd.

The Sagehens finished their 2017 regular season with a 14-18 overall record and 7-1 in conference play, which earned them the No. 2 seed in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. The Sagehens only conference loss of the season was to the No. 1 seeded Whittier Poets by the slim margin of 9-8 earlier this year.

Pomona-Pitzer is led by junior Jocelyn Castro who leads the team with 46 points and 40 goals this season. Junior Morgan McCracken leads the team in assists with 23 and senior goalkeeper Ahsha Earwood comes into the tournament with a 4-1 SCIAC record and tallied 136 total saves this season.  

Pomona-Pitzer will face off against the No. 7 seeded Redlands Bulldogs Friday at 10:45 a.m. The Sagehens defeated the Bulldogs 15-3 in their regular season matchup earlier in the year.
