Volleyball: Sagehens Fall to No. 2 Cal Lutheran in Semifinals

Thosand Oaks, Calif. – Freshman Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong hit .353 with eight kills, but the Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team couldn't pull off the upset against the defending NCAA National Champions and current No. 2 Cal Lutheran in the opening round of the SCIAC Postseason, falling in three sets.

Set Scores: 25-9, 25-19, 25-20

The Sagehens finish the season with a 13-13 overall record. Pomona-Pitzer finished the regular season fourth in the SCIAC.

Cal Lutheran advances to the SCIAC Championship against No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday.

The Sagehens will lose just three players to graduation this off-season. Stephanie Sun finishes her career with 590 kills and 525 digs. Her 182 kills this season place her third among the Sagehens. 

Sarah Gamble led Pomona-Pitzer this season with 68 total kills and ends her career with 179 total kills.

Freshman Isabel Kelly had a hot start to her Sagehen career, earning SCIAC Newcomer of the Year honors. She finishes her rookie season with 255 kills, placing her first among freshman and seventh overall in the SCIAC.

Addo-Ashong ends her debut season with 57 total kills, ranked second for Pomona-Pitzer. She ended the year on a high note, averaging a .405 hitting percentage in her last four games.

Second Team All-SCIAC selection Julia Zwaal ends the season ranked third in the SCIAC with 301 kills. 

Jessica Finn finishes the year with 681 assists and Sophie Janssen led the Sagehens with 281 digs.
