Women's Track & Field: Seven Victories For Pomona-Pitzer at Oxy Dual Meet

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Track & Field impressed in their season debut at the Occidental Dual Meet, taking first place in seven events and setting a school record in the 4x1600 Meter Relay. With several new events introduced to the meet, Occidental won the dual meet 80-51. A handful of first years impressed at the meet, including Quin Fraley, Lila Cardillo, LuLu Pinczower, and Genevieve DiBari.

"We had very good day, and we had a number of newcomers realize they can compete very well collegiately," said Head Coach Kirk Reynolds. "We're excited about our upcoming season, and this shows we're putting in the hard work and laying the foundation for a terrific spring."

Fraley kicked the day off with a victory in the 100 Meter Dash, clocking at 12.65 seconds. Fraley later went on to win the 100 Meter Hurdles at 15.40. Pinczower followed with a victory in the 400 Meter Dash at 1:06.59.

The Sagehens dominated the distance events, sweeping first through fifth place in the 3000 Meter Run. Cardillo took first at 11:00.19 while Lauren Hamilton followed .01 second behind at 11:00.20. Helen Guo tied for third with Genevieve DiBari at 11:00.21 and Sophia West finished fifth at 11:00.25. The Sagehens then made history in the 4x1600 Meter Relay, as Cardillo, Guo, Hamilton, and DiBari combined for the Sagehens record at 21:58.47.

Over in the 4x400 Meter Relay, the Sagehens took first as Amy Watt, Sophie Richards, Kate Shimamoto, Rosie Linkus combined for a 4:08.65 finish.

On the field, Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong won the Triple Jump at 11.10m while Phoebe Salowey took second at 10.61m. First year Micaiah Palmer finished third in the event at 10.48m.

Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again next Saturday as they make their home debut at the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All Comers on February 16 at 10:30 a.m.
