Women's Track and Field:  No. 12 Sagehens have Strong Performances at Invitational

CLAREMONT, CA — The No. 12 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Track and Field team had a strong showing at the annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational Saturday on Strehle Track. 

The meet hosts colleges and universities among all divisions, unattached runners, along with some professional and national team representatives. A total of over 1400 athletes competed in the meet.

Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong had an outstanding showing in the 100 meter hurdles. The freshman ran a personal best 15.23 and was the first DIII runner to finish. Her time is the fifth fastest time in program history. In the high jump, Addo-Ashong took second in the event with a height of 5-03. Her mark is a personal best and ties for fifth on the Pomona-Pitzer all-time list. 

Addo-Ashong added another top performance in the triple jump. She was the third-best DIII performer in the event, finishing with a a distance of 35-04.50.

Cat Banobi had a strong showing in the 400 meter. The senior finished ninth overall and first among Division III runners in the event, crossing the line with a time of 57.62, which is a new personal best and the #5 mark in program history.

In the 5000 meter, Lauren Hamilton finished in tenth with a time of 18:10.43 (#10 time in program history). Right behind her was freshman Helen Guo who finished in eleventh at 18:15.16. Senior Abby Gardner took thirteenth place with a time of 18:17.88.

Sophie Richards shined in the 400 meter hurdles, taking eleventh and first from DIII runners with a time of 65.56.

Prisca Diala was the third-best Division III performer in the long jump, finishing with a distance of 17-03.25. She also finished thirteenth in the triple jump with a distance of 34-03.50.

Jessica Finn took third overall in the javelin. Her mark of 128-05 was the best from the Division III participants. Finn also set a personal record in the hammer throw with a throw of 121-03.

Next Meet: The Sagehens return to SCIAC action when the host the next conference multi-dual on Saturday, April 15 beginning at 10 a.m.
