Women's Tennis: Sagehens Take SCIAC Final Loss To CMS

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Team dropped a tough contest against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas on Saturday afternoon in the SCIAC Final 5-0 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. After getting swept in three close doubles contests that could have gone either direction, the Sagehens could not hang on in singles for the loss.

Jay Kim and Caroline Casper battled Nicole Tan and Sarah Bahsoun in no. 2 doubles and fell 8-4. Maria Lyven and Arianna Chen came close to defeating Caroline Cox and Catherine Allen in no. 1 doubles, but fell 8-6. Marghi Andreassi and Rebecca Salaway also fought closely against Madison Shea and Sydney Lee, but lost 8-6.

Sarah Bahsoun took the fourth point after winning against Salaway in no. 6 singles 6-1 and 6-2. Catherine Allen seized the match-winner after defeating Casper in no. 1 singles with a pair of 6-2 sets.

Up Next: The Sagehens will await an announcement by the NCAA to see if they earned an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. The regional round will likely be hosted at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Biszantz Family Tennis Center next weekend, May 10.
