REDLANDS, CA. – The No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis Team took a dominating 7-2 victory against SCIAC opponent University of Redlands on Friday evening, sweeping through the doubles round and taking four in singles.
Season Impact: The Sagehens improve to a 13-3 record overall and are undefeated in the SCIAC with a 6-0 conference record.
Maria Lyven and Arianna Chen battled to a close 8-5 win in no. 1 doubles against Elizabeth Johnson and Halle Martinucci while Grace Hruska and Lucy Jiang followed with an 8-4 victory in no. 2 doubles over Jackie Lacy and Karen Kobayashi. Caroline Casper and Jay Kim closed it out with an 8-4 win in no. 3 doubles against Kate Dolan and Madison Ross.
Caroline Casper won her no. 1 singles match against Elizabeth Johnson 6-1 and 6-4 while Rebecca Salaway followed with a 6-2 and 6-1 win in no. 5 against Kate Dolan. Melisha Dogra won no. 6 against Madison Ross 6-1 and 6-0 and Lucy Jiang took a three-set victory against Lexie Lehman, falling 0-6 in the first set, but coming back 7-5 and 10-7. Arianna Chen dropped her no. 2 match against Lacy in a pair of close 7-5 sets and Jacinta Chen fell no. 3 to Karen Kobayashi in a pair of 6-4 sets.
