CLAREMONT, CA — The No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team rolled on their way to a 9-0 win over Cal Lutheran, Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: The Sagehens improve to 13-5 overall and remain a perfect 6-0 in SCIAC play.
Caroline Casper and Arianna Chen followed up with an 8-1 win in the No. 2 match. The pair improve to an incredible 16-2 in the spring. Maryann Zhao and Emily Chen made it a sweep in dobules, rolling to a 8-0 win at No. 1. Zhao and Chen move to 12-2 in doubles play.
Mallory Roth was dominant in her win. The senior won in the No. 6 match with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 performance. Casper sealed the win for the Sagehens with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 1 match. Casper has won six singles matches in a row.
Arianna Chen kept Pomona-Pitzer rolling, winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 match. Chen has won seven of her last eight matches. Maddie Gordon rolled in the No. 5 match for the Sagehens. The senior won her fifth match in a row at 6-0, 6-1.
Maryann Zhao came away with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1. Zhao improves her singles record to 13-2 this season. Mae Coyiuto made it a clean 9-0 sweep for the Sagehens with her win in the No. 4 slot. Coyiuto came away with a 6-2, 6-3 win and improved her record to 9-4.
Next Match: The Sagehens will head across the road next Thursday, April 20 for this year's edition of the Sixth Street Rivalry. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
